Reminder of the Importance of Measles Vaccine and Records May 23, 2025
According to the latest report published by Public Health Ontario (PHO) , the number of measles cases in Ontario continue to increase. As of May 20, there has been a total of 1,834 measles cases reported in 2025 associated with the ongoing outbreak. York Region has reported three cases so far in 2025, but with increased local and international travel ahead, more are anticipated. York Region Public Health echoes the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health in reminding our local school boards on the importance of staff and students being up to date with measles vaccination and ensuring staff are prepared to provide immunization records (or other documentation of immunity) in a timely manner to prevent disruptions to school operations in the event of measles cases.
