Message from the Chair and Director - Celebrating a Strong Start to the School Year
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and enjoyed time with loved ones, as well as the beautiful fall colours and weather. We’re fortunate to live in such a vibrant region, surrounded by natural beauty and strong communities.
As we settle into the school year, we want to take a moment to express our sincere appreciation for the dedication and hard work of all staff. Your efforts have helped ensure a smooth and positive start, and we’re grateful for the care and commitment you bring to your roles.
The school year has begun with many meaningful events - curriculum nights and Terry Fox runs, and opportunities for families to explore secondary and post-secondary pathways. We’ve also seen events for First Nation, Inuit and Métis students and families and families of Black children, all of which help to foster a sense of belonging, community and support.
We encourage you to continue sharing your good news stories with us. Highlighting the innovative, inclusive and community-building work happening across schools is important. These stories not only celebrate the efforts of our colleagues and students, but also help to build pride and confidence in our system.
Every day, we see incredible work happening to deepen student learning, spark curiosity, develop skills and build on successes. We want to help tell those stories - stories like Innovators of the Future and elevating student voice in the new grade 9 and 10 project. Please submit your good news stories to the Communications Department and let us know what’s happening in your school.
As we continue visiting schools and events across the district, we’re inspired by the pride and sense of community we see in classrooms, hallways and schoolyards. Thank you for all that you do to make our schools places where students feel safe, supported and celebrated.
Ron Lynn, Chair
Bill Cober, Director of Education
