Bus Loop Safety & Routines

 

LJPS Bus Loop and Drop Off/Pick Up Safety & Routines

 

In an effort to keep students safe and keep school traffic flowing, we are sending out some information for our parents and guardians about our Bus Loop and Drop Off/Pick Up procedures.

 

The parking lot and bus loop are closed to traffic from 8:30 – 8:45 am and at 3:15 – 3:30 pm and the gate will be closed. We have 10 morning and 12 afternoon buses that service both Elders Mills P.S. and Lorna Jackson P.S. that get priority access to our bus loop. This is important as buses must stay on time and enter and exit as per their schedule. At times, buses are late arriving for a variety of reasons and the bus loop must remain clear of vehicles until well after 8:45 am.

 

Where possible, we encourage everyone to walk to school. If you must drive, we ask parents/guardians to park curb lane on Napa Valley Ave. and walk your child (ren) onto school property along the sidewalk (see map). Please do not cut across the grassy boulevard as this requires students to walk between buses and is extremely unsafe. If you want to access the parking lot and park, please arrive before 8:30 am or 3:15 pm. If parents need to drive their child (ren) to school, please enter the parking lot before 8:30 am and use a parking spot. (see diagram below)

 

Note: Pylons will be placed at the parking lot exit where it connects to the bus loop to prevent exit. Vehicles will be allowed to leave ONLY when the buses have vacated the bus loop.

 

Most importantly, this will keep our students and your children safe!
